Hi! My name is Heather. I'm a stay-at-home wife and homeschooling mom of two awesome kids! I want to give you a short glimpse of how "My Little Stewards" (MLS) came to be and why I want to share it with you and your family.
About four years ago, I allowed my kids to play video games and watch TV as much as they wanted. It was an excellent way for them to unwind and relax - and it allowed me more free time to get things done around the house. A big win-win in my book, or at least it seemed so at the time.
It didn't take long for our house to become an electronic battlefield. Unfortunately, we were no longer spending time together like we used to, and tons of dirty clothes and toys were always left to be picked by me. They ignored their chores, and manners & attitudes were appalling! I'd finally had enough. I was ready to put a hammer on everything with a screen and throw it in the dumpster!
But then I started to think to myself.
That's not the way I should handle this. How would I get my kids off the electronics so it wouldn't add additional conflict or stress? How was I going to encourage them to want to spend more family time together as well? How could I get them to take more responsibility and clean up after themselves without having to make demands every time they'd leave random items out on the floor of the house?
While helping my son with his math work, we played a game learning how to count money. The idea of "the money game" was enjoyable and intriguing to him, and suddenly the lightbulb went on. What if my kids were to earn computer dollars for screen time by doing tasks that they choose? In turn, they could "buy" screen time to talk to their friends on their phones, watch a movie, play a video game, etc. That is how My Little Stewards came into existence!
Today, four years later, my kids (9 & 11) screen time has dramatically decreased. Our extended family and friends constantly tell us how amazed they are that our children are self-sufficient and responsible. We spend more quality time together as a family. They are gaining practice using vital life skills that will prove invaluable as they transition into adulthood. They have the freedom to make mistakes as kids and teens in these areas, and I can be there to teach them the correct way to handle themselves responsibly as adults.
That is why I decided to take the initiative to write down and share this simple four-step system guide and created everything you need to get started today.

One day while I was helping my son with his math work, we were playing a game learning how to count money. The idea of money was really fun and intriguing to him and suddenly the lightbulb went on and that is how My Little Stewards came into existence!

Since we started this system, our son's understanding of the relationship between work and reward, as well as the consequences of debt, has increased greatly. He now regularly takes the initiative to complete tasks in a timely manner to earn computer/gaming time and also save up money. It's also a great way to regulate unruly behavior! Highly Recommended!
The MLS system stopped the constant asking for tech time and put the decision into my kids hands. We are two weeks in and even tho they use most of their money during the weekend they now don’t ask for more, they also come straight off when the alarm sounds. Such a simple idea but thoughtfully created.
I've seen how this system works. My great-niece and nephew have been using this for a while now. They are more self-sufficient and capable of doing more with confidence and less inclined to whine about doing a job (inc. school, chores, extra activities.) They know the boundaries and follow them pretty well for youngsters. I recommend this product.
